The Heroes
The play VETERANOS: A Legacy of Valor documents the bravery of four American heroes, David Barkley Cantu, (WWI), Macario Garcia (WWII), Eugene A. Obregon (Korean Conflict), and Roy Benavidez (Vietnam Era).
The lives of these Medal of Honor recipients are depicted in dramatized vignettes in this award-winning two-act play which pays tribute to their historic contribution and to all Latinos who have fought in America's defense.

A bilingual, multi-visual production with live music, dance and drama, complimented by slides and military archival video projections. The music and dances reflect four historical eras of the American Latino experience starting in the early 20th century (World War I), then the 1940’s (World War II), the 1950’s during the Korean Conflict and finally the 1960’s during the Vietnam era. Re-living the spiraling human drama of American lives impacted by world events.

Sixty American-Latinos have been the recipients of the highest military honor bestowed upon a U.S. soldier – The Congressional Medal of Honor. Awarded for bravery in combat, above and beyond the call of duty.

Little is known about the Congressional Medal of Honor, the individuals who earned it, and how their courageous actions secured the privileges we enjoy today.
